STATEMENT ON THE UKRAINE CONFLICT

Scientific bodies have a duty to uphold in every direction the principle that the freedom of research relies on the peaceful coexistence of nations and their scientists. In this context, we express our support for the people of the Ukraine and the scientists involved in this conflict, calling for an immediate peaceful solution.

Wind farm noise in WA and the SA EPA Wind farm noise guidelines

WA's Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) is aware of several up coming major onshore wind farm projects in WA and acoustical professionals are invited to provide feedback on how noise emissions from wind farms are assessed in WA, including feedback on any existing relevant policies or guidelines. Online attendance is available, e-mail wa-chair@acoustics.asn.au after registering for the event to be added to online list. Online details to be sent out on the day of the meeting.

VIC Division Technical meeting 2024-01

The Australian Acoustical Society VIC Division will be holding an in-person technical meeting. Jordan Lacey and Lex Brown will present on the Sonic gathering place (SGP), a prototype biophilic soundscape design installation in the Alumni Courtyard in the RMIT University grounds. We will meet at 5pm at the installation for an on-site experience and transfer to RMIT room 8.4.13 at 5.30pm, to listen to Jordan Lacey and Lex Brown who will respectively present on the design and the acoustic assessment of the SGP. The presentations will be followed by a social gathering at the Oxford Scholar Hotel. Please register by Tuesday 30 Aprill.
